Mustangs Put the Hurt on Clarke, 54-7;
Close Out Season 4-1-1

By Tony Clark (November 19, 2002)

The George Mason junior varsity football team beat Clarke County last week 54-7. The team had been on a tight schedule with two games in five days. The victory over the Eagles ended the season on a high note, with an overall record of 4-1-1.

Freshman Eric Blush and sophomore Willy Hoover played strong defensive games. Combined, they forced a fumble and numerous incomplete passes. Blush also had an interception that led to a touchdown. Sophomore Scott Lemon’s presence was felt on the offensive and defensive line with a couple of sacks and steady blocking on offense.

Travis Greene was a story all his own with three touchdowns. Greene also completed a 26-yard touchdown pass at the end of the game. The JV football team at Mason has been consistently good with winning records the past four years.
