Film Review
‘Anger Management’ Is ‘Pointless’ By Steven Gould (April 26, 2003) "Anger Management," directed by Peter Segal, is by far the most pointless comedy movie of the year. There hasn’t been this bad a movie since "Master of Disguise." The movie begins with Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler) looking back at his childhood era when he was always picked on and pushed around. Years later he still is the same person, quiet, and really easily embarrassed. Dave is asked to go on a business trip to find new ideas for the design magazine he works for. Unfortunately, he gets in trouble on the plane, and is sent to court for "assaulting" an airline flight attendant. He is then sentenced to community service and to attend an anger management class. His teacher, Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson), instead of teaching him how to calm his "anger problems," enhances them. Now Dave’s life as he knows it is being destroyed and taken over by Buddy. Soon his anger will become too much that he will have to go to jail for twenty-three years. This movie was too obvious and the plot was pointless. Some of you who think Sandler is probably funny in it just like he was in Happy Gilmore, and Billy Madison. Since Sandler plays such a calm person he doesn’t react to anything. Nicholson, who only has about three humorous parts, does the only funny things in the entire movie. Most of the huge punch line jokes were on the previews so you already have had your laughs and just think it’s old humor. Seeing this movie is a waste of your time and money. There were only a few parts of the movie that got me to cough out some signs of amusement. A few people I know disagree, so maybe you will find the film more enjoyable. If you do want to see it, just wait for it to come out on video to rent. Tell us what you think.
