Rowling’s Second Film Works
Its Magic on Viewers

By Steven Gould (November 27, 2002)

"Hocus Pocus!" J.K. Rowling has done it again with her hit "Harry Potter" series. Her second book has made it to the theaters, and has its viewers spellbound in a whole new world. "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" has materialized into a whole new name for outstanding performance. Children, teenagers, and adults all crowded around theaters to be the first to buy their tickets to see the new "Harry Potter" movie. At the Multiplex Theater on Lee Highway endless lines appeared in front of the doors to get in to "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," however many were disappointed to discover that all showings for the movie were sold out on Friday.

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," is the sequel to "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone." It begins in Harry’s home where he lives with his evil aunt and uncle, and his annoying cousin. Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) can’t wait for summer to end so he can go back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, to see his best friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). Harry soon encounters Dobby the house elf, a small creature who is a servant to a family he refuses to mention. Dobby warns Harry Potter not to go back to school or he will face horrible danger. Ignoring the house elf, Harry soon leaves his home and goes back to Hogwarts.

The best selling book "Harry Potter and the
Chamber of Secrets" by J. K. Rowling has
hit the silver screen with great success.

Soon after arriving at Hogwarts, Harry meets his favorite teacher Professor McGonagall (Maggie Smith) and the Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore (Richard Harris). He also encounters his least favorite teacher Professor Snape (Alan Rickman), and his hated rival Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton). Everything seems to be going fine until Harry begins to hear voices no one else can hear. He finds people petrified in the halls and is blamed as the one doing these things. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide it is up to them to find the Chamber of Secrets and find the monster that is doing this to everyone before it is too late.

The first movie was a hit and this one will do even better. The acting by Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Harris is amazing! Never will a movie have such great actors and filmmakers. I give Harry Potter a perfect 10 because it can open the imagination of the viewers, whether they like fantasy movies or not.
