Police in London arrested
an 18-year-old man on March 6 in connection with the brutal murder of 1993
George Mason High School graduate and artist Margaret Muller early last
month. The teenage suspect, identified as Colin Cummins, has since been
released on bail. According to a statement released by Scotland Yard, however,
Cummins is under instruction to return in April to the east London police
station where he was taken following his arrest, pending further inquiries
into the case.
Muller, 27, was stabbed to death
in what detectives have termed a "sadistic" attack while on a morning jog
in east London’s popular Victoria Park in Hackney on February 3. The award-winning
artist had lived in London for five years, during which time she studied
and taught at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art. |

Cummins’ arrest came three days after
police staged one of London’s largest crime scene reconstructions a month
to the day after Muller’s murder. Victoria Park was sealed off for over
four hours as hundreds of police officers and witnesses took part in the
process, retracing their own and Muller’s steps the morning of the killing,
in an attempt to produce a pool of suspects for further investigation,
according to local London newspapers.
