George
Mason’s annual literary/arts magazine Tempo, under the sponsorship of Ms.
Melissa Raeder, won first place honors from the VHSL for last year’s magazine.
In addition, the magazine earned a Silver Medalist Award from the prestigious
Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s evaluation services.
In its first year as an online paper,
Lasso
Online, under the co-sponsorship of Ms. Eileen Backofen and Mr. Michael
Hoover, received first place honors in the student newspaper category from
the VHSL. "Last year’s newspaper editor, Juliana Pearson, was the impetus
behind the formulation of the online paper and deserves a lot of credit
for this recognition, " said Hoover.
 The school yearbook, the Mustang,
sponsored by Ms. Kate Brodeur and Ms. Cathy Caridi, both in their first
year as sponsors, earned a second place award from the VHSL.   |
