By Kate O’Hara (November 18, 2002)

Thirty-five new members were inducted into the National Honor Society at a ceremony held in the Mustang Café November 4. The members were selected based on their outstanding performances in four categories: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

In order to demonstrate these areas, members had to have a 3.5 GPA, an accumulation of six activities, had been an elected officer or leader, or had three recommendations written by faculty members stating that the student had demonstrated leadership. Lastly, they had to score a 3-point average on a 4-point character scale that is voted on by the faculty.

The members of the sophomore class that were selected based on these criteria for admittance were: Lauren Breeden, Andrea Genovese Soares, Elizabeth Jones, Chad O’Hara, and Tetyana Onyshchenko.

New junior members were: William Bacon, John Bumgarner, Elisabeth Collins, Luisa Fairfax, Andrew Hipolit, Joseph Mauro, Nathan McFarland, Mary Ryan, Karen Velasquez, Sijia Wang, and Casey Winzler.
