Marino Announces
‘Oklahoma!’ Cast
By Sara Kaplow (January 3, 2003)
The supporting cast includes a mix of mostly juniors and sophomores in the roles of the farmers and their girls. Junior Annie Wanlund will play Ado Annie Carnes, and her beau Will Parker will be played by sophomore Chad O’Hara. The role of Ado Annie’s other male friend, Persian trader Ali Hakim, went to sophomore, Sam Aydlette. Senior Stefanie Johnston, will perform the role of Gertie Cummings, a fiery redhead with a crush on Curly. Jessie Jondrow, a senior, will lead the cast in learning how to dance in the large musical numbers, as well as perform as the lead dancer. Additionally, junior Matt Meyer will act as assistant director, the first time that a student has taken that role in a major Mason production. Marino had originally planned to do the musical "Grease," but instead chose to perform "Oklahoma" due to easier access to the rights required to put on the show. The musical is known as a classic Rodgers and Hammerstein production, which was originally performed on Broadway in 1943. The production is scheduled for February 27 and 28, and March 1. Rehearsals for the show will begin after school when school resumes. Below is the entire cast list as it now stands. George Mason High School
