Hotdogging It
Umm, Umm Good!
Senior Annie Maynard stuffs a hot dog in her mouth at last
Friday’s Seventh Annual Day at the Ballpark sponsored by Nick Benton, owner
and publisher of the Falls Church News-Press. The festivities took place
on the Jack Gambill Fields Complex. Benton supplied 850 free hot dogs,
50 pounds of ballpark peanuts, and free soda in orange souvenir stadium
cups. Over 200 fans took advantage of the freebies and watched as the girls’
soccer team beat the Rappahannock Panthers 6-1; the softball team lost
12-1 to the Panthers; and the baseball team beat the Panthers 6-2. The
baseball game featured a home run by senior Andy Koelz. It was the first
homer of the year at home. Freshman Will Hoover won the annual hot dog
eating contest by downing 10. (Photo by Kristin Sommers)
