SCA Retreat Mixes Business, Fun
By David Oglethorpe (October 3, 2001)

Whether you enjoy team building activities, hay -rides, or cooking "weenies" over an open fire, the SCA retreat was the place to be. On the 23rd of September 43 students piled into two busses and headed off to the annual retreat grounds. Students of GMHS voiced their opinions on the burning issues that this high school will be facing this year. These topics ranged from plans for homecoming, to the strengths and weaknesses of the student government and the rest of the school.

Of course, the retreat was not all work. It’s a commonly known law that you can’t keep high schoolers working non-stop. The entertainment at the retreat included a variety show, the part that everyone looks forward to, which was full of laughter and mocking SCA sponsor Mr. Wilkie. With teams ranging from 26 points all the way to 58, it was a very diverse experience.

Earlier in the day, a new tradition was born: the faculty-senior football game, which the faculty won in a very controversial way, which included Ms. Hopkins taking out SCA president Mkhaill Samsonov, and Mr. Snee making a last-second tackle to win the game.
