Sophomores Evan Cunningham and Steven Gould have won "outstanding interpretation" awards at the council level of the Reflections Contest sponsored by the PTSA. The award is equivalent to first place, meaning that Cunningham and Gould will advance to the next level, district competition.

Cunningham and Gould entered the Reflections contest this fall. The participants were asked to create an original piece of literature, art, music or photography centered on the theme "I hold in my hand." Over 150 students submitted works in the literature and photography categories.

Bernard Ohanian, associate editor at National Geographic Magazine was the literature judge who selected Cunningham’s to move on to the council level. Gould’s photographic entry was also commended.

The winners of the "outstanding interpretation" awards will be invited to the Fairfax County Council Awards Assembly on February 22nd

Next year’s theme for the Reflections contest will be "signs of courage."
