After flying into Zurich, we took a train to Chur,

a lovely, picturesque town with a view of the Alps.

 

We boarded the local train which followed the same route as the Bernina Express and had it pretty much all to ourselves on this Saturday morning.
Quite an adventure over high bridges and into tunnels through the mountains

Villages were nestled among the majestic mountains

We stopped at Diavolezza

and took the cable car up to the glacier

 

 

Some of us climbed higher than others

Back down the mountain to pose with some "wildlife"

And back on the train

Another stop to explore the town of Poschiavo

This peaceful river can flood the town
as the poster at the right showed us

We traveled on to explore the lake at Le Prese

This was our turn around point although the train

continued on to Tirano, Italy
