At this point the village of Brhlovce looks picturesque but quite ordinary
However, the area is an "historical reservation" explained in pictures and Slovak text

Stone houses at the base of the cliff are a prelude to the main feature of the town
These houses built right into the rock had been used for centuries, right up to the turn of the 20th century
Now they are preserved as a museum but also still used as workshops
The interior of the houses included a picture of Christ that my Slovak (Rusyn) grandmother had in her home in America
