Terrace Houses of Ephesus



Excavating these hillside houses and putting the pieces together is painstaking work.

Mosaics on the floor are remarkably well preserved.
These colors are as they really appeared
The brown hue in some of the photos was caused by not using a flash.
This was a bathroom
Each room had a specific purpose

One American University is among the supporters of the restoration of the Terrace Houses - our very own VA Tech!

Their archeology students have the opportunity
to work on this project during the summer
