Burg Eltz |
This Castle is different from all the
others we've visited |
Usually you walk up to a castle. This
one is in a valley. |
Since it's not easily seen, this provided
some measure of safety |
|
Built around the 15th century, this
castle has remained in the hands of the same family through to the
present day |
|
One branch of the family still lives
nearby. |
|
The interior has a family atmosphere |
including this family tree |
Our next stop was the town of Cochem |
|
The history of the town appears in its
Coats of Arms |
Medieval Architechure |
On the banks of the Mozelle, the village castle
(Burg Metternich) dominates the landscape |
|
This was a lovely spot to stop and have lunch
