We have visited
Bratislava many times, but this was our first time to see their Christmas
Market |
On each trip we took the city
tour
since each guide had a unique perspective.
The first stop was the castle overlooking the river and
the city
Looking down from this vantage
point you can see the "UFO" Bridge and on a clear day Austria and
Hungary as well as Slovakia |
The medieval gate to the old city |
A building which is only 5 feet wide |
Narrow alleys |
Iconic sculpture |
In this church we heard an organ concert
We toured the Bishop's Residence, which was
a first for us
Flowers confused by the warm weather were blooming in December
We explored the Christmas Market
all afternoon and every vendor understood my Slovak |
There were smaller markets tucked away within
courtyards
many booths were run by charities
We ate a lot here |
I bet this looks pretty at night |
We returned to our ship for dinner,
but decided to return to the market afterwards. It was only a short
walk from old town to the river |
Performances of traditional music and dances were a nice surprise
Our last stop was the ice rink where professional
hockey stars were giving and exhibition and signing autographs |
