This skanzen is different from
others we toured throughout Slovakia |
The history of the Ruthenian (Rusyn) people
of the Carpathian region
includes Eastern Slovakia, the Ukraine, Poland
and northern Hungary |
|
|
Byzantine Catholic and Orthodox Rusyns worshiped
in churches of totally wooden construction, including using dowels
instead of nails |

|
Houses and artifacts were gathered here from
several countries where Ruthenian people lived |

The goats were
particularly friendly
and athletic.

There was an excellent variety of buildings,
just as would be found in a village |

The houses seemed larger than
in the other skanzens we visited. However, since I cannot compare
them side by side, perhaps it was an illusion. |
