Stara Lubovna is the city 6 km from my Grandmother's village of Sambron. So this is the landscape that she saw.
Occasionally we could see the peaks of the High Tatras in the distance and castle ruins at Plavnica along the way.

The Stara Lubovna castle has been partially restored.
Down the hill from the castle a Skanzen (national heritage site) was erected
Using actual buildings and artifacts from around the country, a late 19th, early 20th century village was created.
I imagine that this is how my ancestors in the village once looked up at the castle of the nobles on the hill.
