The Battle of Bannockburn - a major landmark in Scottish history
The Battle of Bannockburn was fought on June 23-24, 1314
It was a victory for the army of King of Scots, Robert the Bruce,
over the army of King Edward II of England in the First War of Scottish Independence
Rob Roy, (Robert MacGregor), was a Highland outlaw whose reputation as a Scottish Robin Hood
His exploits were exaggerated in Sir Walter Scott’s novel Rob Roy (1818)
in some poems of William Wordsworth and movies of the same name
He frequently signed himself Rob Roy (“Red Rob”), in reference to his dark red hair.
