Checking out our surprise itinerary
- We are sailing to Santorini |
|
|
Room
Service brought the breakfast we ordered. They are not allowed
to come into the room.
We put our trash & towels outside
in red hazmat bags. Same with laundry.
Since I don't feel very bad (rather like sinus congestion from
allergies), this is not a bad place to quarantine and recover
from Covid
|
We
relax, read and watch the scenery on our balcony and EAT.
We have been provided free movies & Internet |
We order all meals from the regular restaurant menu
It arrives faster than in the dining room
Perhaps we are ordering too much?
Not many calories burned during quarantine
We will see!

Approaching
the Island of Stromboli
|
|
|
Stromboli
is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily,
Mount Stromboli is one of the three active volcanoes
in Italy. It looks like steam is rising from it this morning
Ancient people believed this was the home of Aeolus, the god of wind
|
|
.
As we sailed the Tyrrhenian Sea and thru the Strait of Messina
I remembered my Dad’s WWII
diary
aboard the USS Philadelphia - the “Terror of the Tyrrhenian” and
the “Galloping Ghost of the Sicilian Coast” |

An announcement from the Captain
“ The delay
has caused us to be unable to make our port of call of Santorini"
So another sea day and on to Athens on May 14th.
We have been to Santorini
before, but it is unfortunate for those who were looking forward
to it.
The good news is that the woman who had to be airlifted for a
medical emergency is doing fine
