The
Azores consists of 9 islands. We docked at
São Miguel Island , nicknamed "The
Green Island" which is the largest and most populous
island in the archipelago.
1/3 of the population lives
in Ponta Delgada, the
archipelago's largest city. |
|
Our tour destination was the town of Sete Cidades
- a town in the crater of a volcano |

"Whale Lookout"
The whaling industry was once a significant industry here

|
These unusually shaped evergreen trees (Norfolk
Pines) grow throughout the island. |

|
Back in the Porto Delgada we had wine & cheese
at a local hotel before shopping and reboarding our ship |
