by the hot, dry summers of recent years
These panels depict the importance of Bishop Electors in the history of the city
The panel on the left is of the German Emperor
This fountain marks the location of the
original "Fish Gate" of the city

These sculptures record events in the history of the city
The central marketplace by the cathedral
The Gutenberg Museum has a working model of a Gutenberg Press
that was demonstrated by our guide in the photos below
It also has displays of ancient writing, hand drawn books and
copies of original Gutenberg Bibles
Pictures were not allowed in those areas

When we visited Mainz in April 2012, Joe was chosen from the audience to perform the printing process
The resulting page is framed and hanging on our wall

According to the information

on this plaque Gutenberg once

lived on the corner across the street

Photos around the city show the destruction during WWII and the rebuilding efforts
It is to their credit that the photos are accompanied with the following context
