The castle Landshut overlooks the town
Path along river while running (Medieval town to the left - McDonald's to the right)
We planned a cruise on this river in 2017 on the ship in the photo at right
but lock maintenance diverted us to a different though interesting route
Finally we are cruising the Mosel in 2019
Across the river is a former palace that is now a hotel
We explored the town with a local guide
The corner of this building records the high water marks of severe flooding
Decorative signs mark the type of business
The bull means a butcher shop
Windows are puposely non symmetric
to confuse "ghosts"
According to legend, a bishop was once cured
by drinking a local wine now known
as "Doctor Wine"
One of the old city gates
Another legends says that after a bear ate a Bishop's donkey, the bear had to pull his cart
The 1416 Spitzhaeuschen (pointed house)
is the town's most famous house
The 1608 Town Hall (Rathaus) is on the medieval Market Square
Prisoners were chained to the front of the building

St Michael Fountain is the heart of the market place. It dates back to 1606 and is dedicated to the archangel Michael
He is standing with one foot on a dragon and holds a sword and scales in his hands
St Michael is the patron saint of the town
