The Rijksmuseum is one of Amsterdam’s grandest and most popular museums
Its collection showcases iconic art and artifacts of more than 800 years of Dutch and global history
It includes paintings by Rembrandt, Van Gogh and other Dutch painters

On closer inspection we see that the stained glass windows reflect secular not religious images
Professional painters are restoring the murals
but the small details on the ceilings are being restored by local art students

It was excavated from the reclaimed Haarlemmermeer in the 2nd half of the 19th century
It may have been used during the 1573 battle in the painting
