Small aircraft and Seaplanes are everywhere in Alaska since there are only 3 major highways in the entire state
Many towns and villages including the state capital of Juneau do not have roads in or out.
The only way to get there is by air or boat...and boat only in spring and summer. Alaska is run by air!

This is the sled dog kennel of Susan Butcher, the second woman to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in 1986,
the second four-time winner in 1990, and the first to win four out of five sequential years.

The speed of the dogs is amazing
Later we got to visit with some of the dogs, including "retirees"

Chena Village is a recreation of the Native Village that once existed along the river
Over time the river changed course and the village became an inland location
The large construction on the river is a "salmon trap"
Native guides provided the history and demonstrated the daily life of the people
