Curonian Spit (Part 2)
May 2018
Europe
We travelled by bus to another area of the Curonian Spit
Lunch was at a lovely restaurant with a very interesting owner with a terrific story.

We were able to see the Russian border in the distance
(The tower on the horizon)
At the water's edge the Russian border is just beyond the boat

Learning how to read a sundial

Walking along the shore to a shop where we would have an lesson in making amber jewelry
A handy rest spot along the way

The distinctive weather vanes on houses and shops
are symbolic of the trade (or hobby?) of the resident
The dust from our attempt at sanding amber for jewelry
was thrown into the fire.
According to legend, if the fire flares up,
we will return to Lithuania
OK, looks like I'll be back!
