This 18th Century Baroque palace was designed as a summer residence for the Duke of Courland
The architect was Bartolomeo Rastrelli who also designed the Hermitage in St Petersburg -
The palace was damaged during WWII and neglected by the Soviets afterwards.
Restoration is an ongoing process since Latvian Independence in 1992
